Pecan Grove MUD, Houston

Created in 1975, Pecan Grove Municipal Utility District (MUD) covers the entire extraterritorial jurisdiction of Richmond in Fort Bend County, Texas. Pecan Grove MUD (PGMUD) is tasked with constructing, operating, and maintaining all water and wastewater facilities that serve the residents within the district’s boundaries.

The district currently has at least 4,300 occupied single-family residential connections. The average house value stands at about $244, 423 based on the district’s 2018 certified tax rolls. PGMUD also features a 580-unit apartment community.

The residents of the district also get to enjoy a variety of country club facilities. These include:

  • A clubhouse
  • Tennis courts
  • A swimming pool
  • A 27-hole golf course

Pecan Grove also boasts 30 commercial connections. These include but are not limited to a grocery store, a daycare center, at least nine restaurants, and several small shopping centers. Other notable features of the district are two elementary schools and a church, all of which are exempted from tax.

PGMUD also offers out-of-District water supply to a middle school as well as water and sewerage services to an elementary school. Additionally, Pecan Grove MUD has three parcels of land that are used as recreational parks.

Moreover, there are several small parks belonging to area homeowner associations. That means Pecan Grove residents have an endless supply of fun and recreational activities. However, only foot traffic and non-motorized vehicles are permitted to enter the parks, levee, and drainage channels.

Pecan Grove Park is perhaps the most popular of all the parks. Located on 800 Pitts Rd, Pecan Grove, the park offers a picnic pavilion, picnic tables, football, baseball, frisbee golf, children’s playgrounds, and restrooms. It is open to the public during daylight hours.
